 A warm Southern California day welcomed Ocean Conservation enthusiasts to Dana Point's Annual Ocean Awareness day. This gathering of groups focused on restoring and preserving our oceans ends the two week long “Festival of Whales”.

This week the New Bedford Whaling Museum decided to include a new organic snack offering to visitors of the museum. In the Museum Store you will now find a delicious new tortilla chip that is shaped like a whale's tail...Ms Rachael Montejo, director of retail sales, said “I was delighted to find this gourmet chip and I love the fact that the founders of the company helped fund the water quality surveys in Magdalena Bay, the birthplace of the Pacific Gray Whales.  Tortilla chips may seem an odd way of protecting whales, but one man's bright idea for whale tail-shaped chips, is doing just that. His company has just made its first donation that will help tackle pollution in Magdalena Bay, in Bahia California, Mexico, which provides shelter for Pacific Gray Whales where they rear their young before continuing their long journey to the Bering Sea...full story

By now most folks have heard about the baby dolphin that lost her tail due to an entanglement with fishing line off the coast of Florida. The entanglement was so severe that the loss of blood flow to the baby dolphin's tail actually caused auto-amputation. (full story)
